Ruffed Grouse

Driving gravel backroads looking for birds, we saw this ruffed grouse standing in the middle of the road. I opened the door and stood up and took a quick insurance shot, thinking I would then take my time and get a good photograph. As soon as I took the insurance shot the grouse took off into the undergrowth. This was the only shot I got.
